GLORY!

The supreme perfection of His nature:  He shares with all believers.  John 17:56   John 2:11
      Splendor.  Honor.  Perfection.

Where His glory is abandoned, where He is not acknowledged, moral uprightness disappears!  We become prostitutes- running after anything to satisfy, but find nothing.  Hosea 4-5.  They exchange their glory for something disgraceful-- a people without understanding will come to ruin.  Their rulers dearly love shameful ways.  Does any of this sound familiar?

God is waiting for us to take responsibility for our actions.  That's what repentance is.  But we still want to blame God for all the miserable things we suffer.  What finally turns us back to Him?  We say He has torn us to pieces.  He has injured us!  What does He desire?  Mercy, not sacrifice!  Acknowledging Him!  Peace, love, joy.  His presence.

He has given us all this in Jesus.  Forgiveness--this is His heart.  He has a plan for us.  Not to harm us, but to give us hope and a future.  What more can He give?  Jeremiah 17:7

Is history just destined to repeat itself?  Yes!  Unless we learn from  the past.  A people without knowledge will come to ruin!  He has left us with this knowledge.  What shall we do with it?

COULDA, WOULDA, SHOULDA

We all look back and think, I could have done it better.  We could have loved more, touched more, been kinder, taken more time, etc.  Jesus says, "Rejoice--that means you're growing!"  What started out as a little black seed, you watch grow into a beautiful flower.  All things are meant to grow and change.  Nothing stays the same.
Be patient with yourself, and others.  See the beauty.  God is good!  Forget what you don't understand.  Rejoice in what you do understand.
God is good!  God is love!  Romans 12:2.

I DESIRE MERCY!

"I desire mercy, not sacrifice."  Unless we experience the sufferings of Christ, we cannot really know His heart.  Do we really want to know Him?  How many of us take the easy road, the road that we can take by ourselves?  The road that doesn't touch us too deeply.
"I desire mercy."  Loving kindness.  Your heart.  Nothing held back.  Nothing protected.  Do we really stop to think of the mercy that went into the sacrifice?  The loving kindness to know another's pain brings mercy.  Love.  Kindness.  Intimacy.  The deepest intimacy.  You can walk away from sacrifice; you can never walk away from mercy.  It becomes a part of you and there is only one way you can learn it, and that is to experience it for yourself.  Share in the sufferings of Christ!

                  Hebrews 2:9-10      1 Peter 4:12-14, 5:9-10       Romans 5:4-5, 8:15-18   2 Cor. 1:3-5

To know you is to share in your life, all of your life, and to rejoice that we can share such intimacy.  He has opened His heart to all who will receive it.  Love, joy, sufferings.  Praise God!  To know Him and share in His life.  "Pick up your cross daily.  Come, follow me."  Choice.  Psalm 55:22.

TAKE UP YOUR CROSS DAILY

     1 Corinthians 1:18      Matthew 16:24-25
"If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.  Whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it."
What is the cross I must take up?  What was it to you, my Lord?  A place where you would be nailed, unable to defend yourself,  A place that you gave yourself  to.  You knew full well what that cross meant.  It meant life.  New life to us.  It meant forgiveness, redemption, restoration.  An open door to the Father.  A light at the end of the tunnel.
Deut. 31:8.  "Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you!"
The cross didn't kill You!  The people didn't kill You!  You gave up your life.  Your life opened a door.  A door to love and joy unbounded.  John 17.  His heart's desire.  I can do all things through Christ Jesus.
Matthew 7:7-14.  "Knock and the door will be opened to you."  I have found my life.  His name is Jesus.  He is the way, the truth, and the Life.  There is no other.
Thank you, Jesus!  2 Corinthians 5:17.
